Tragic Consequences: Man Dies Following Nose Job as Clamp Fragment Found in Brain

A devastating incident has resulted in the death of a young man who underwent a nose job, as part of a clamp allegedly became lodged in his brain during the procedure.

Luis Fernando Dávila Castañeda, the victim, was declared brain dead at a private clinic in Tarapoto, Peru, after sustaining irreversible brain damage during the rhinoplasty.

Following the surgery, Luis, who worked as a hotel manager nearby at Hotel Boca Raton, fell ill and was promptly transferred to Hospital EsSalud for medical attention.

Upon conducting a thorough examination, doctors made a distressing discovery—a foreign object embedded in Luis’s brain.

Tragically, Luis passed away in the intensive care unit on 7 July.

In response to the incident, the Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an immediate investigation, while the Peruvian National Police conducted inspections at the clinic and attempted to interview the surgeon involved. However, the surgeon was away on business in the capital city of Lima at the time.

Expressing their grief, Luis’s uncle, Héctor Quintana, stated their desire for justice and urged thorough investigations by the Police and Prosecutor’s Office to determine the responsible party.

In light of the alleged negligence, Luis’s family has filed a complaint against the clinic, further intensifying the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of Dávila.
