A police officer has tragically died following a liposuction procedure.
Fani Patricia Ortega Ortiz, a 24-year-old police patrolwoman working for the state police department DENAR in Colombia’s Nariño department, passed away on the evening of 24 June.
Ortiz had traveled approximately 740 miles to Montería in the Córdoba Department to undergo the operation, despite the distance from her place of work in the municipality of Pasto.
The liposuction procedure took place during her 30-day holiday period from work, but unfortunately, she experienced health complications during the surgery and passed away shortly thereafter.
A post-mortem examination has been conducted to determine the exact cause of her death, though the results have not yet been disclosed.
The police department expressed their condolences to Ortiz’s family and offered their full support during this challenging time. She had received several accolades for her dedication to the police force before her untimely demise.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is still ongoing.
