Piers Day Unveils Transformative Mental Health Support Programme

Renowned mental health coach Piers Day is introducing a pioneering national programme focused on supporting men’s mental health, aiming to challenge the stigma that men don’t openly discuss their struggles.

The initiative, titled Out of the Darkness and Into the Lighthouse, is a comprehensive support programme designed for men of all ages, from teens to seniors. It provides a safe and welcoming space where men can openly talk about mental health challenges, offering practical resources, coping strategies, and a sense of community.

With a variety of activities, including webinars, regular meet-ups, and weekend events, participants can engage in group walks, fear-facing activities, and small group retreats. Key events include a one-day, 26-mile Pedlands Way walk and intimate retreats offering therapies like Reiki. With both virtual and in-person options, the programme ensures accessibility to men across the UK.

Piers, driven by his personal mission to “make suicide history,” launched this project following the loss of three close friends to suicide. His aim is to offer men the support and tools they often lack, breaking down barriers and providing practical techniques for managing mental health effectively.

The programme also provides support for parents, helping them navigate mental health challenges their children may face. The Lighthouse concept symbolises a safe space where people can find guidance and support in difficult times.

Through the Out of the Darkness Facebook group, which has already attracted over 400 members, Piers has built a community that provides ongoing discussions and peer support, even ahead of the official UK launch.

Operating on a flexible membership model, the programme provides access to a range of services and a dedicated membership site. With paid memberships already underway, the official launch is scheduled within the next two weeks.

Piers Day commented: “There is no question that some support exists, but the reality is there is not enough—especially for men. Too many guys are slipping through the cracks because they don’t feel comfortable opening up in traditional settings.

“That’s why Out of the Darkness and Into the Light House is so important. It’s about creating a space where men can genuinely connect, feel heard, and work through their challenges without judgment. This isn’t just about talking; it’s about action—facing fears, building resilience, and ultimately saving lives. I’ve seen first-hand the devastating impact of silence, and I’m determined to make sure no man feels like he has to battle his demons alone.”

With suicide remaining a leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, Out of the Darkness and Into the Lighthouse aims to offer hope and community, encouraging men to open up, share, and find strength together.
