The English wine industry continues to go from strength to strength and Pan Pacific London is committed to supporting English vineyards, large and small. Launching in time for English Wine Week (18th – 26th June), the hotel has introduced a new English sparkling wine flight experience in The Orchid Lounge.
The menu features a first-class selection of premium wines from across southern England, where grapes thrive in the cool, chalky soil, and the English sparkling wine flight promises guests an unforgettable taste experience. The three wines have been specially selected for their unique flavour profiles. Enjoy a glass of the fruity yet acidic 2011 Breaky Bottom Brut Cuvée Jack Pike – so named by winemaker Peter Hall who dedicates each cuvée to friends and family. This is followed by a glass of lively, sweet MV Nyetimber Cuvée Chérie Demi Sec – a sublime choice to be enjoyed with flavoursome food – with the flight ending with a delicate and fruity 2019 Chapel Down Rosé Reserve.
What’s more, these three English sparkling wines have been perfectly paired with The Orchid Lounge’s Floral Fantasy Afternoon Tea. The tea begins with iced pea and mint soup and a glass of 2011 Breaky Bottom Brut Cuvée Jack Pike before moving on to MV Nyetimber Cuvée Chérie Demi Sec to be enjoyed with savouries like deep-fried milk and a siu mai basket of prawn, spinach and beef dumplings. Then, delight in delicate patisserie, beautifully balanced by the sweet and floral notes of the 2019 Chapel Down Rosé Reserve to round off the memorable experience.
This celebration of English wine is running at The Orchid Lounge throughout the summer, with the English Sparkling Wine Flight served daily for £38pp. The Floral Fantasy Afternoon Tea is served from 12PM – 4.30PM Thursday – Monday, priced at £68pp on weekdays, and £72pp on weekends with the English Wine pairing menu available for an additional £30pp supplement.
