Wanessa Moura, a popular model and influencer with 1.5 million Instagram followers (@wamoura), recently made headlines for selling a perfume allegedly made with drops of her own sweat. Now, she has shared her experience of asking her ex-boyfriend for a refund as compensation for their breakup.
The 29-year-old influencer claims that besides the heartbreak, she was also left £16,000 ($20,000) out of pocket. She had planned a luxurious surprise holiday for the couple in the Maldives but was broken up with before she could reveal the surprise.
Determined not to suffer a financial loss after spending a significant amount of money on the trip, Wanessa asked her ex-boyfriend for a refund. She vows never to pay for a man’s holiday again.
“I had prepared a very special moment for us to enjoy together, relax, and have fun,” Wanessa told Nude PR. “But unfortunately, we cannot control everything, and he ended our relationship before I could reveal the surprise. It wasn’t cool at all, and at first, I was very upset. But I acted quickly because I wasn’t going to be at a loss after spending a large amount of money on a surprise trip to the Maldives.”
Wanessa, originally from São Paulo, Brazil, admits that the breakup was her first experience of rejection. She also reveals that she had been the one covering the expenses for most outings and dates with men until that point.
While she hasn’t decided whether she will still go on the Maldives trip, she firmly believes that her ex-boyfriend should pay for his share.
“I still don’t know if I’ll make the trip alone; I could invite someone else to accompany me,” she said. “The only thing I’m certain of is that he needs to reimburse me for what I had already spent.”
Although she is still waiting for the cash from her ex-boyfriend, Wanessa has moved on and found love with someone new. However, this experience has changed her perspective on paying for holidays and other significant expenses for men. She has decided to keep her money in her own wallet from now on.
“I wouldn’t pay for any man’s travel expenses, not even if he were my husband,” Wanessa stated. “What happened to me during this Maldives episode is enough. Although, when we’re in love, we sometimes do crazy things that even God would question, so I think it’s better to never say never.”
Despite the tensions between them, Wanessa still wishes her ex-boyfriend happiness. In her new relationship, she has adopted a rule to manage her finances: “Whoever invites, pays,” regardless of the circumstances. If she invites someone on a date, she takes on the responsibility of covering the expenses.
