Alejandra Villafañe, a beloved actress, beauty pageant winner, and influencer, passed away at 34 after a months-long battle with cancer.
Alejandra, who had 220,000 Instagram followers, was well-known in her home country of Colombia and beyond for her roles in telenovelas like ‘La Nieta Elegida’ and ‘Always a Witch.’
In addition to her acting career, she was a model and beauty pageant contestant, winning the Miss Earth Colombia competition in 2014 and placing in the top 16 of Miss Earth in the Philippines the same year.
In May 2023, Alejandra Villafañe announced that she was undergoing cancer treatment and would be stepping back from her acting career. She bravely faced chemotherapy and surgery after being diagnosed with three malignant tumours in her breasts and ovaries.
While her treatment initially showed promise, she experienced setbacks leading her back to the hospital, where she eventually died.
Her final appearances on screen were in the 2023 Prime Video series ‘Manes’ and the 2023 comedy film ‘El Yuppie y El Guiso.’
Throughout her battle with cancer, Alejandra frequently shared updates with her followers on social media, including photos alongside her boyfriend, fellow actor Raúl Ocampo.
Alejandra Villafañe posted her last heart-wrenching message along with a video on October 12th, which read, “This video is a tribute to the family that is always there, to the friends who arrived and became family. Thanks to a lifelong love.”
Following the news of her passing, fellow beauty contestant Miss Colombia 2011, Daniella Álvarez, commented: “You are now in the best life, the one we all wish to reach. We love you.”
